WHAT CAUSES PRURIGO NODULARIS?

Although the cause of PN is not entirely understood, it is thought to begin inside the body, where an abnormal relationship between the skin, nervous system, and immune system can lead to inflammation.

This inflammation results in the signs and symptoms you see and feel, like unrelenting itch.

This unrelenting itch leads to scratching and the development of itchy bumps over time resulting in more scratching and rubbing. Chronic scratching can lead to scarring.
