about dupixent

DUPIXENT is a prescription treatment used with other medicines for the maintenance treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyposis (CRSwNP) in adults whose disease is not controlled. It is not known if DUPIXENT is safe and effective in children with CRSwNP under 18 years of age. DUPIXENT is not a steroid or immunosuppressant.

Type 2 inflammation is an underlying cause of CRSwNP in 80% of patients. CRSwNP is predominantly characterized by Type 2 inflammation of the nose and paranasal sinuses. DUPIXENT blocks 2 key sources of type 2 inflammation and shrinks nasal polyps and reduces the need for surgery.

Discover how DUPIXENT works

Do not use DUPIXENT if you are allergic to dupilumab or to any of the ingredients in DUPIXENT.

Before using DUPIXENT, tell your doctor about all your medical conditions, including if you:

  • have eye problems.
  • have a parasitic (helminth) infection.
  • are scheduled to receive any vaccinations. You should not receive a "live vaccine" right before and during treatment with DUPIXENT.
  • are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. It is not known whether DUPIXENT will harm your unborn baby.
  • are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed. It is not known whether DUPIXENT passes into your breast milk.

Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.

Especially tell your healthcare provider if you are taking oral, topical, or inhaled corticosteroid medicines; have asthma and use an asthma medicine; and have CRSwNP, and also have asthma. Do not change or stop your corticosteroid medicine or other asthma medicine without talking to your healthcare provider. This may cause other symptoms that were controlled by the corticosteroid medicine to come back.

The effectiveness and safety of DUPIXENT has been studied in the largest clinical trials to date for CRSwNP with 724 adults with uncontrolled chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyposis (CRSwNP).

  • In both studies, DUPIXENT was proven to help patients breathe better by relieving nasal congestion and reducing the size of nasal polyps compared to placebo group.

Patients enrolled in these studies included subjects with CRSwNP regardless of whether they had prior sino-nasal surgery or treatment with, or who were ineligible to receive or were intolerant to, systemic corticosteroids in the past 2 years. Patients with chronic rhinosinusitis without nasal polyposis were not included in these trials.
